The word hero may evoke a classic image of Superman, Batman, or could be someone in your own life that serves as the ultimate role model. Whatever a hero means to you, we want to see your pictures capturing them. Holla, tumblr. It’s that time again- another weekly moderator ramble and a new prompt! This’ll be the eighth week of prompts, this little tumblr has really taken off and i’m so greatful!

I love all of you guys so i like to brag about how many of you there are - we just passed the 11,000 follower mark, it’s up to 11,095 right now! We’ve passed the 5,000 post mark and it just keeps going!

As far as recent updates go, i’ve enabled disqus comments to the site- you can comment on people’s photographs and they can comment back, it’s a neat little way to interact with people! The twitter idea is still in the works, we’re still not exactly sure how we would want it to work and what kind of content it will include, but we’ll keep you updated!

We recently added another member to the team, it’s our tech guy! Basically this awesome dude answers all the technical questions the rest of the staff doesn’t know the answer to, he has plenty of experience in the field and we hope you’re getting the answers you’ve been looking for! Thanks to everybody who e-mailed me about this position, i wish i could have accepted all of you!

hokay- prompt time! last week’s “on top of the world” was one of my favorite prompts so far! you guys had some amazing photos!! this week I want to try a little something different!

Hello again, tumblr. This post is going to have a lot of information, feel free to scroll right down to the prompt information if you want, if not try to stay with me! The important bits are bolded anyhow!

As of right now we have 10,602 followers! You guys are so awesome! We’ve had a bit of drama lately, as can be expected with the internet, but it was so nice to see how many of our followers understand what we’re trying to do and love us right back!

Today I enabled disqus comments to our site! We’ll see how this goes, if things get out of hand in a negative way i’ll just remove them. I’m hoping that instead of simply ‘liking’ pictures, users can get on and give some feedback to the photographer, even if it’s a simple “i love this!” it can brighten their day! As long as there’s no hateful comments I think it sounds like a good idea. We’re also thinking about starting up a twitter! We’ll link to our favorite submissions, post reminders and share photography related links we find. What do you think?

Since we turned on the ask us anything feature, we’ve had a high volume of requests for technical information from our followers. we try our best to answer these, but none of us are photography students or professionals and can’t always give people the answers they want! So, we’ve decided we need a sort of technical support admin that can answer all of these questions! If you’re interested in doing this, shoot me an e-mail at barelyxjoyous@hotmail.com with a link to your tumblr page, a little bit about yourself (age, timezone, other specifics), and why you think you’re qualified to answer these questions.

Hello again! As of today we are sitting at 10,117 followers and 4,146 posts total. You guys are all amazing! You’re probably guessing that it’s time for another weekly photography prompt (i’m a day late!). I’ll get to that after I make the obligatory notes beforehand!

Keep submitting your photography! We love it, you love it, 10,100+ followers can’t be wrong!  Just remember that we only accept TWO submissions per member per day. If you delete more, we accept the first two and delete the rest, sorry, but we don’t like clogging up dashboards with the same user all day. Also, please credit yourself!!! Set a click-through link when you submit your work, or provide links to your tumblr, flickr etc.!

Hello again everybody! I checked today and realized we’re at 9,342 followers! I can’t even say how amazing that is! We’ve had such a good response with the submissions on our weekly prompts, and other submissions as well! keep submitting!! I want to remind everybody, and let all our new followers know, that only two submissions will be accepted a day per follower. In most cases we will just accept the first two and delete the rest. it clogs up the queue and people’s dashboards, and we hate having to delete submissions!
